Claw Point is an area of cliffs at the tip of the Shantadern Peninsula on the Sea of Gearnat in southern Nyrond.
Description
The most commonly noted feature of the cliffs is that they are slowly eroding, which has opened passages into ancient catacombs. These hold the remains of Oeridians from the time of the Great Migrations, buried some time before -15 CY.[1] The catacombs are so extensive, they continue a mile or more deep from the cliff face.
Smugglers also use the caves long the western side of the point.[1]
The difficult part of accessing the catacombs is the sheer cliff face. Coupled with the crumbling rock and gale-force storms suddenly sweeping in from the Sea of Gearnat, Claw Point is exceedingly treacherous to get to.[1]
History
Geography
The point is found in the Viscounty of Eventide on the southern Nyrondese coast of Relmor Bay. It juts out southeast of the Gnatmarsh, south of Shantadern. It is shaped like a curved talon, protruding into the bay.
Rumors & Legends
Along with such ancient burial chambers come tomb robbers. Though there are tales of curses for those who disturb the graves, undead who hunt the defilers, and debilitating diseases afflicting those who steal the treasures of the catacombs, and their bodies wash up on the shore all the way from Seawatch north to Shantadern eighty miles away.[1]

The cave system and catacombs beneath Claw Point were used by a Nerullian cultist and his lieutenants to gather and hide a "massive undead army" from 596 to 598 CY.[2] The village of Seawatch on the point fell and the undead began swelling northward. A call was put out for adventurers to help stem the tide of the horde until Nyrondese forces could be brought there by the Count and King.
The Nerullian cultist, Hochnebyn (male human Clr6/Master of Shrouds 10), and his lieutenant, Sharan, were stopped and armed forces of Nyrond were able to eliminate the rest of the undead army. The adventurers responsible were thanked personally be Queen Xenia Sallavarian and the Count of Eventide, and given favors in gratitude.[3]
