Description

Drazen is a male hobgoblin, but is given no other physical description, though he is shown in art. (see infobox)

Personality

Drazen has an undenialbly fearsome reputation.[1] He is known as a pitiless and unrelenting chieftan.[2] He is also ruthless and murderous, having slain as many as 30 fellow chieftans in order to attain possession of the axe of Stratis[3] and had no remorse when thousands died on a forced march under his order.[2]

Abilities

Possessions

At the inception of the Godwar, Drazen claimed the axe of Stratis.[2][3][4] His "gifts of strength, tactical insight, and force of personality have been supercharged by the power of Stratis’s axe."[1]

Activities

Drazen called a conclave of approximately 30 other chieftans and warlords to discuss alliance, then murdered them when he claimed the axe of Stratis. He gathered the tribes under his banner and made an enormous army of orcs, goblins, ogres, bugbears and ettins, all led by hobgoblins. He force-marched that army across the Blasted Desert to attack Ravilla and Thalos and participate in the Godwar.[1][2][3][4]

Relationships

Drazen's second-in-command is the warlord Voja. He is an adept (divine spellcaster) who both admires and despises Drazen."[5]

History

"Into the chaotic milieu of the Southlands was born a hobgoblin named Drazen. Like all of his kin, he learned the value of discipline and leadership. The hobgoblin tribes were smaller than those of the orcs and bugbears, but they made up for it in organization and battle tactics. Throughout his youth, Drazen learned the hard lessons of the battlefield and proved quite astute. He gained a reputation for personal bravery and proved himself a brutally effective commander."—Dragon #292[6]"
