Animal
This page lists creatures in the wide variety of mundane animals found in the World of Greyhawk™. This includes domesticated animals, as well as food animals hunted in the wild, and wild animals which aren't hunted. These are creatures referred to (in game mechanics) as animals, beasts, magical beasts or some rare few monstrosities. Most are otherwise fairly "normal" creatures, though some are fantasy animals which aren't real-world animals.
Note—some entries on this page are drawn from general sources. These are included because encounter tables in some sources like the WoG boxed set and From the Ashes refer to using "Standard Tables" for encounters.[1][2] This references animals and monsters found on encounter tables in the first edition DMG (p.179-194). It also refers to monsters found in the Monster Manual (MM1e) and the Fiend Folio (FF1e).[3] The Monster Manual 2 (MM2 1e) is also used as the encounter tables there "are to be used in conjunction with those in Appendix C of the Dungeon Master's Guide."[4]

Notes
Many animals on this page are included from encounter tables from various sources like DMGs and Monster Manuals. The random encounter tables in the World of Greyhawk boxed set[1] and From the Ashes[2] say throughout to "Use Standard Encounter Tables". Animals from MMs and DMGs in first and second editions are therefore cited on this page, even if not specifically cited in an official Greyhawk-branded product.
- ↑ a b c d e f g h Herd Animals—Encounter tables in WoG boxed set refer to using "Standard Tables" for encounters in some environments, which references back to the encounters in the DMG1e. In the DMG1e, they are listed as "Herd Animals" and examples are derived from the MM1e. Herd animals (or "mammal, herd") are also listed in "standard" tables in the 2e Monstrous Compendium series
- ↑ a b c d e f g h i j Common Birds—Listed in MC5 as "Common bird or owl—Notes: These are normal avians such as wild ducks, parrots, ravens, seagulls. sparrows, swans, and so on."[97] Slavers further refers to "bird, flock" in encounter tables.[92]
