Yarpick
Commonly called the daggerthorn, the yarpick is a shortish, sturdy tree with broad, fringed leaves. Its nickname comes from the frightfully sharp thorns that radiate from its trunk and branches, which can grow anywhere from half a foot to two feet in length. Yarpick thorns have been used as weapons.
Yarpick fruits are not edible, but its plum-sized inner seed is nutty and nutritious, eaten roasted or ground into meal.
Yarpick trees are common in the Bramblewood Forest. Yarpick is also found in the Dapple Wood and Iron Wood.
"Yarpik coffee" is drank by characters throughout The Eyes Have It[1] and is "served at every morning meal".[2] It is made from ground yarpick nuts or "beans".[2]
