Bryan Blumklotz (born March 13, 1967 in Portland, Oregon) is a longtime gamer, organizer, and creative. He is known for his work on Greyhawk heraldry, the creation of numerous forums supporting various games and gamer communities.

Biography

Bryan is the son of two Chicago ex-pats who moved to Oregon in 1965. Games of all types were part of the fabric of his family life growing up (traditional board games, card games, etc.). In the Summer of 1978 he encountered Dungeons & Dragons for the first time at the OMSI Science Camp Hancock in Eastern Oregon. Almost every night a group of counselors gathered in his open A-Frame cabin and played a game of imagination, heroic fantasy, and story telling in a mashed up world of 1st Edition AD&D, The The Arduin Grimoire, and Chivalry & Sorcery. When he started 6th grade that fall he joined the Chess Club which quickly became the D&D club at his school (we also played Traveller, a lot).

His exposure to The World of Greyhawk did not start with the publication of the WoG Folio (though he purchased one as soon as it came out) but from the DM background sections of such seminal adventures as T1 Village of Hommlet, the G1-3 Giant Series, the D1-3 Underdark Series, etc. When the World of Greyhawk Folio was published in 1980 his love of the setting was cemented and his interest in heraldry was piqued. The folio was not enough and soon he was buying issues of Dragon Magazine to get any information on the setting which led to his parents getting him a subscription.

After graduating High School he spent a year abroad in Colombia and came back to start college out in Colorado. 2e was out and his new gamer friends did not play in Greyhawk and he briefly played in a Dragonlance campaign and his lifelong genocidal hatred of Kender was born. For the next 15 years Bryan wandered the gaming world trying all kinds of new genres and types of games (Cyberpunk 2020, Battletech, Netrunner, Magic the Gathering, Shadow Run, Champions, Harn, and various computer and board games). 2e D&D was not his favorite version of D&D and it was hard to find a Greyhawk game, that was all to change in 2000.

Bryan attended the 2000 Gen Con Game Fair in Milwaukee, WI with his future wife Melissa for the launch of 3e D&D and Living Greyhawk. They both picked up their copies of the new Player's Handbook and rolled up characters that night (a Ranger of the Celedan Forrest and a Paladin of Pholtus respectively) and for the next 7 years they both adventured in the Duchy of Urnst region together (sadly his wife's Paladin was killed in year 2 of the campaign). Bryan quickly volunteered to help his local Regional Triad organize play (he maintained the first DoU website and setup and ran several Living Greyhawk Yahoo mail lists).

Since that time Bryan has continued to organize play locally in Portland, Oregon, created a World of Greyhawk Heraldry site, and has created/administered numerous Facebook Groups to support Greyhawk, Android: Netrunner, and other gaming interests. He is learning how to run Discord servers, Twitch.tv streams, and any other social media platform that can reach out to gamers world wide.
