In addition to the general Writing Guidelines, articles on locations should use the following sections; note that some subjects will not require every section.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • The Location infobox should be used along with these guidelines for articles about any specific location within the World of Greyhawk campaign setting such as an identifiable place, individual geographical feature (such as the Causeway of Fiends), cape, cave, vale, area, region or former region, historical ruin, or other site with as many values filled in as possible.
  • The infobox should include the location’s name only if it differs substantially from the page name.
  • The introductory sentence should include both the location's common and full names, and any alternate names all in bold , as well as general location (Pomarj, Keoland, etc).
  • Note that cities, towns, and villages are dealt with in the Writing Guidelines for Settlements using the Template for Settlements.

A general overview of the location should be provided.

Geography

The location's precise whereabouts within a realm or nation, surroundings, major geographical features (rivers, forests, mountain ranges, etc), and climate should be listed here. Wikilinks [[in brackets]] should be included for features which may have other articles about them.

Which realm the location is located within, if applicable, should be detailed here. Wikilinks [[in brackets]] should be included.

Heraldry

A description of the location's heraldry, if applicable, appears in this section.

History

This section should contain a historical overview of the location. Dates should be given in a [[### CY]] format to include wikilinks to a page for that year.

Any notable persons known to have lived at or inhabited the location, or who are currently doing so, should be noted in this section.
