| General information | |
| Region: | Western Oerik |
Gigantea is a "land populated by giants"[1] in Western Oerik. It overlaps geographically with parts of Naresh.
"Gigantea" is a label applied by Heward in a letter to Mordenkainen. However, Heward notes this is not the name by which the native inhabitants refer to their land and it is "doubtless the locals have their own names for many of the areas."[2]
Geography
Terrain and climate
Gigantea is a far nothern region. It is depicted in cartography as being icy and snowy. It borders on, and connects to Hyperboria. "A semipermanent bridge of ice connects the land to Oerik proper, but the crossing is treacherous at best."[2]
Borders
Gigantea's southern reaches to Naresh, where the northwestern forest and mountains are largely populated by gnolls who worship Yeenoghu.
People
The only primary inhabitants described in official material are giants,[1] though there are likely others.
Though nothing is specified about their language or religion, there is a pantheon of giant deities, and a language they commonly speak in the Flanaess.
Publication history
Gigantea was first (and only) published in "Beyond the Flanaess", in Dragon Annual #1 (1996), by Skip Williams.
