Mummergin is celebrated on the first day of Needfest. People celebrate the influence of magic and magical creatures by wearing disguises, avoiding recognition. Using actual magic in disguises is considered cheating. The festivities include dancing, revelry, a parade, and a play called 'The Performance of the Mummers', where good and evil battle. Evil initially triumphs, but a young child resurrects good and banishes evil. In larger cities, vigilance is high to prevent interference by evil cults.[1][2]
In contrast, the Empire of Iuz performs a darker version where priests in masks enact their evil lord's victory over good, culminating in the public sacrifice of a prisoner, celebrated with general rejoicing.[1][2]
