Seaton is a fortified military port and fishing town found on the southern coast of Keoland. It is the provincial capital of the Viscounty of Salinmoor. Historically a major fishing town and bustling seaport, Seaton today is a drab and heavily garrisoned fortress.
History
Seaton was originally a fishing and civilian port town, which saw success as a regional shipping port. At its peak, the city was nearly twice as large that of the nearby town of Saltmarsh, which had a population of around 2,000.[1]
Some years ago, Seaton was razed in an attack by pirates and slavers. Approximately one thousand refugees left for the nearby town of Saltmarsh, beginning a period of significant growth for that settlement.[2]
King Kimbertos Skotti of Keoland responded by turning his attentions south, to deal with the threat posed by the Sea Princes. The Keoish admiralty chose to establish a significant naval garrison at Seaton, fortifying the port with ships, infantry, and cavalry to serve as the region's primary military outpost.[3]
Geography
Seaton is located within the Viscounty of Salinmoor, a southern province of Keoland upon the Azure Sea. It is twenty miles west along the coast to the fishing town of Saltmarsh.[4] Further along the coastline is Gradsul, a much larger and more important port city.
Seaton is south of the Dreadwood, which spans the isolates Seaton from the rest of Keoland, limiting its value as a port city and hampering its political influence in Niole Dra. It is precariously close to the Hool Marsh, inhabited by numerous lizardfolk and other dangerous creatures; and the land of the Sea Princes across the sea to the south.
Cityscape
Seaton hosts the local criminal court, where major crimes are tried. Major crimes in neighbouring settlements, such as the town of Saltmarsh, are tried in this city. Seaton also hosts the regional jail, which hosts criminals sentenced to imprisonment for longer than one year, or imprisonment with hard labor.[5]
Major temples of several deities are located in Seaton.[6]
Travel
Seaton is located on the Azure Sea, and is used as a port of transport. Travelers pass through Saltmarsh to reach Seaton by land, whereupon they can travel elsewhere by ship.[7]

The governor, Duke Marik Feldren, rules over all the southern province, which includes Seaton. Marik is a sheltered hothead who wants to surpass the legacy of his brother, the war hero Obertus Feldren, who was originally appointed by King Kimbertos Skotti. Feldren is suspected to be an agent of the Scarlet Brotherhood.[9]
Seaton is the capital of the Viscounty of Salinmoor. In 591 CY, the Viscounty was ruled by Viscount Cronin Secunforth, a human fighter.[10]
