Millennium is a black stone castle on the coast which was built by the Almorians and taken over by the Great Kingdom during the Greyhawk Wars.

History

The castle stood for some 500 years [1]. During the final part of the assault on Almor by Duke Szeffrin's forces, the fortress was besieged for three months. They held out until 1,200 of the 1,500 men originally garrisoned there had died, until finally, the Treaty of Greyhawk was signed, which stipulated the the Nyrondese soldiers who were defending it turn the castle and surrounding land over to Duke Szeffrin's forces in exchange for safe passage out. After that, it was mostly garrisoned by orcs, who were led by fiends, including greater tanar'ri, who began the process of animating the corpses of all those who died there, to form an undead army[1] (though they also floated certain corpses down the shoreline to Mithat Bay, in hopes of spreding disease).[1]

Geography

The fortress is located on the western coast of what was once Almor. The fortress is on Relmor Bay, north of Chathold, near the Nyrondese border. Beneath the castle is a whole warren of underwater caverns.[1]

Rumors and legends

The orcs who took over the garrison after the treaty was signed were allegedly allowed to search those leaving, so a lot of very valuable things were left behind. They also used the castle to stash loot they took pillaging the area, which lead to the castle being considered a great source of treasure for anyone willing to tangle with or sneak past the fiends and orcs guarding it.
