The Azteotl Hills are a series of hills in western Hepmonaland.[1]
Description
Geography
"This branch of the Kelo narrows quickly and eventual[ly] submerges itself in the Vogan Sea, becoming part of Breeka’s Teeth."[1]

The Azteotl Hills are a line of demarcation, dividing the jungle of western Hepmonaland.
- Centeo Jungle—rainforest north of the Azteotl
- Zolteo Jungle—rainforest south of the Azteotl
- Cities and Nations
- Xapatlapo is a city of entirely yuan-ti, and they are frequently encountered in the Azteotl. They are led in Xapatlapo by the White Eye (female yuan-ti Clr13).
Ecology
Flora
In addition to the normal trees of the jungle, dangerous or carnivorous plants are common.
Fauna
The last remaining couatl in Hepmonaland can only be found in the Azteotl Hills.[1]
The Azteotl Hills have an abundance of dangerous animals. There are many, many snakes, including constrictors, as well as venomous snakes.[2] The Azxteotl also have a prevelence of bats in the area.[2]
Giant insects are common, especially ants.[3]

Humanoids
- Mongrelfolk—an extraordinary population of mongrelfolk live in the Azteotl Hills,[1] comprising roughly 30% of the creatures encountered there.[2]
- Yuan-ti—Xapatlapo; they are found here because they cross the region to trade with the islanders of the Breeka's Teeth archipelago.[4]

Rumors and legends
"Strange rumblings from the hills of Xapatlapo can be heard on nights when the air is still and the jungle is silent; it is possible that the smake-men are fighting a battle against creatures from UnderOerth, although that is mere speculation."[4]
