For future reference, if you move a page, there's an option at the bottom to "Leave a redirect behind." If you uncheck that box, nothing has to be deleted afterward.

Another option is to mark any page with {{delete}} to tag it as an Article for Deletion (AfD). That way there's a system notification, and anyone with moderation priviledges to see the category can inspect the page, make any linking changes necessary, and delete it.
