The Vale County, simply called "the Vale" by the locals, is a one of the many counties in the Duchy of Urnst.[1]

Description

"Easily the most protected region of the duchy."[1]

History

The Vale used to be an idyllic place to live in the early 590s CY and before.

"Aside from an occasional run in with some Rhennee from the Nyr Dyv or humanoids from the Cairn Hills, the halflings live a very peaceful existence. Even the greed and corruption of the Suel culture refuses to penetrate borders of the Vale."[1]

The region maintained semi-autonomous control until the Midsummer Festival of 592 CY when orcs invaded. It was not until 594 CY when Lord Ellis Lorinar lead the Bär Rampant and defeated the orcs. After that, Lord Ellis and the greedy nobles of the duchy took over, stripping the halflings of their weapons and military, dividing their lands amongst themselves. This was when the Vale became known as the Vale County.[2]

Geography

The Vale is in the northwest of the Duchy of Urnst, nestled in the Cairn Hills with access to the Nyr Dyv.
