Description
Appearance
Walfrenden is an old man who has gone completely bald, and is 5'5", and developed a slight tremor in his old age; he is 78 in 585 CY. His left leg is heavily scarred from an attack by a sea wolf, and he uses a heavy walking stick. [2]
Personality
Walfrenden is a free spirit, who his whole life wanted to sail further and further afield, discovering new places and new things. He was annoyed in his younger years about being forced to spend so much time patrolling the coast and waters around the islands instead of sailing further afield, and in his older age by being prevented from sailing by his injury, though he takes great pride in his skill at shipbuilding. He is well-known and well-liked for his thrilling tales of the adventures of his youth.[2]
Equipment and possessions
One of Walfrenden's greatest creations is a caravel called Starflier, a ship of a completely new design that is optimized for long voyages and exploration, including the ability to go up estuaries if needed. Baron Pamdarn has put a down payment on the ship, and it is sitting in the harbor at Oakenheart until a good captain can be found.
He also in in possession of one of the best and most complete sets of maps and charts of the eastern coastline of the Flanaess to be found anywhere[2].
Relationships
Walfrenden is well known and well respected among the Barons, and has met anyone with any power in the Domain of The Sea Barons over the years.
