The Safeton Border Guards are a branch of the Greyhawk Militia operating in Safeton.[1]
They were established in the Greyhawk Wars (582-584 CY), in which the Orcish Empire of the Pomarj invaded the Wild Coast, taking over many of the small independent towns there. Thus the "border" between the Domain and the Pomarj needed to be "guarded".[note 1] The few towns left near the Domain of Greyhawk at the edge of the Wild Coast, , including Safteon came under the protection of the Domain.
This unit was its own separate, named entity by 591 CY.[1]

- ↑ The Safeton Border Guards was formed because "during the Greyhawk Wars, the Greyhawk Militia was ordered to establish posts and garrisons throughout the Cairn Hills and in the northern Wild Coast, to protect Greyhawk's valuable mines and defend the south from invasion by the Orcish Empire of the Pomarj."[2]
