The Olman Isles (or the Olman Islands, or simply the Olmans) are two islands off the northeastern coast of the Amedio Jungle.

Description

"This pair of islands lies off the Amedio Coast, between the Azure Sea and Densac Gulf. Both are covered in heavy jungle growth."[1] The two islands are simply known as "North Olman Isle" and "South Olman Isle".[2] ... the Scarlet Brotherhood has built a seaport on the southern isle (Narisban) [and] placed forts on the shores. ... The climate is oppressively hot and humid"

If not for their strategic naval position, these islands would otherwise be considered "insignificant" to the Flanaess.{{[3]

The Amedian gutworm was originally found in the Amedio Jungle but crossed over to the islands inside infected persons.[4] Drowned ones (sea zombies) are frequently found in the waters around the Olman Islands, due to the activity of pirates, privateers, and freebooters.[5]

The southern isle has "agile, lemur-like creatures possessed of great strength and an acute sense of smell."[3]

History

When the Olman migrated from Hepmonaland to the Amedio, the crossed first to the Tilvanot and thence to the Olman Islands to eventually settle in the Amedio. The isles were once part of the Olman empire.[6]

The Sea Princes, and later the Scarlet Brotherhood, explored the islands and took slaves.[7]

"In the past, other foreigners unsuccessfully attempted to establish settlements on these islands, but disease and madness affect those not inured to the native environment.?[1]"

Duke Luschan of Gradsul in Keoland has sponsored expeditions to the Olman Isles in the past.[8]

Geography

People

Natives of the islands are Olman,[1][9] The Scarlet Brotherhood "forced the natives into their vile slave-race breeding programs."[1]

The "senior steward" (keshkal) for the Scarlet Brotherhood is Brother Schelepak.[9][10]

Languages

The Olman language is spoken on the islands, although usage, pronunciation, and accents vary between the islands and the Amedio, it is similar enough that people from various places there can understand each other.[11]

Resources

South Olman Isle is known for "fine fruit trees" found there.[3]

Rumors and legends

"Rumors of morkoths laired around the Olman Islands are a deterrent to travel in the Densac Gulf."[12]
