Blacksplinter refers to both the keep of Prince Ferrenan of House Cranden and the surrounding lands, which are mostly uninhabitable and contain very little infrastructure of any note, with the exception of the keep itself. The prince has the land patrolled by zombies led by particularly dangerous ghasts to deter visitors.
Description
The keep proper is a huge necropolis-keep, which contains many of Prince Ferrenan's ancestors, entombed in marble. The keep also contains a large library which Prince Carwend and others are eager to get their hands on, featuring works by ancient Cranden mages that feature unique spells for the banishment and weakening of extra-planar beings.
Geography
The area surrounding the keep, well north of Rel Deven, but still south the the Harp River is full of patches of bog and swamp, which are know to drown unwarry travelers, especially since they are often disguised by the hallucinatory terrain spell. The area is also dotted with potholes which lead down to dark, monster-filled caverns, some of which contain passage to the underoerth.
Rumors and legends
There are constant rumors that Prince Ferrenan frequently meets with drow at his estate.
