Damh (pronounced "dav," meaning "horned beast") is the fey deity of dance, song, and celebrations. His symbol is flutes, pipes, and a drum.
Description
Damh appears as a male korred with long, tawny-auburn hair tied into braids. He carries a set of pipes, a wooden flute, and a harp. A physically powerful god, he may ambush hostile invaders into fairy lands. He is a very old deity.
Relationships
A god of the Inner Circle of the Seelie Court, Damh is the son of Titania and Oberon.
Realm
Damh travels with the Seelie Court.
Dogma
Damh loves merriment and festivities. He is fond of music and joke-telling. Hedonistic, he seldom delays an opportunity for self-gratification. His personality also has a more serious side. Damh is credited with helping to build the druid circles and has responsibilities as a guardian for the races he watches over.
Worshippers
Damh's main worshipers are korreds, satyrs, and atomies. According to Monster Mythology, Titania worries so much about the various sylvan races that Damh felt compelled to take over some of her responsibilities and, therefore, lighten her load. He protects his new charges among the other fey races as faithfully as he does his older ones.
Other versions
Dragon #119 described Tapann the Undying, the Father of the Dance, god of korreds. He is also called the Horned Dancer and the Horned Leaper.
His realm is a hill studded with standing stones in Limbo, but he spends much time on the Material Plane. His servants, Jambul, Hrressek, Tishlun and Bresk, guard the hill in his absence.
