Dornelan is a small town located far inland in the former See of Medegia, now the Marchland of Medegia, under the control of the Overking Xavener of the Kingdom of Ahlissa
History
In the aftermath of the Greyhawk Wars, the town was occupied by some 240 deserters from the Glorioles Army.[1] The army had been sent by the Overking Ivid V to sack the region a second time to punish Medegia for not supporting him during the Greyhawk Wars. Forty of the occupying troops were cavalry, the remainder being infantry, and they subjected the 850 people there (585 CY) to military rule.[1] They chose the town because the land was fertile enough in the surrounding area to provide food for their troops and it seemed like a better idea to stay put than return as deserters.[1] The soilders were prepared for Ivid V to retaliate, not realizing that by 585 CY he was weakened enough that such an endeavor was all but impossible. The cavalry often ran raids west into neighboring Darmen lands, hoping to steal horses and equestrian equipment, because their horses were aging and their equipment was poor.[1]
Geography
The town is located not far from the Mikar River and the cavalry raids usually involved fording said river.
