History
The March of Middlemead is one of several regions established in Keoland's first century (-342 to -242 CY) by Oeridian tribesmen.
Geography
Borders
The March of Middlemead is a major central region of Keoland. It is bordered to the north by the March of Sedenna and partly the Zol River, although the eastern part of Middlesmead extends across it; to the west by the Good Hills Union; to the south by the March of Blerfield; and to the northeast by the County of Nimlee.[1]
Major settlements
The capital of the March of Middlemead is Middelbridge (spelled also Middlebridge), which rests upon the Zol River, allowing the region to control some land to the north of the river. It is a prosperous town with a population of 2,508 as of 591 CY.
Notable locations
The Zol River primarily runs through the March of Middlemead.
People
Population and demographics
Middlemead is inhabited primarily by humans of mixed Suloise and Oeridian descent, with some regions of unmixed Suel and Flan. Most live in small farming villages, with few large towns.
It is the most populated of the western regions of Keoland, which were primarily settled by Oeridian tribesmen.
According to the Keoland Census of 589 CY published by the Living Greyhawk Keoland website, the population of the March of Middlemead is 81,165, including 78,771 humans, 1,540 halflings, 718 gnomes, and 136 half-orcs. There also 121,461 poultry and 77,158 meat and dairy.[1]
Government
The March of Middlemead is a feudal province of the Kingdom of Keoland. It is ruled by Lord Kharn, a human of Oeridian heritage. Kharn is highly influential in the Council of Niole Dra, and is a strong proponent of limiting the powers of the king.
Economy
Resources
Middlemead is part of the core farming lands of Keoland. The region's primary production is agricultural, producing a great deal of grain and livestock, in addition to cloth and pottery. There are numerous breweries. Middlemead exports a great quantity of these goods through Keoland and beyond.[1]
Currency
The March of Middlemead uses the standard currency of Keoland: the platinum griffon (pp), gold lion (gp), electrum eagle (ep), silver hawk (sp), and copper sparrow (cp).
