Medven I
King Medven I was the first king of Nyrond upon it becoming independent from the Great Kingdom in 356 CY. He was elected king after bickering between Aerdi and Nyrondal nobles exploded into violent political conflict. The local lords declared Nyrond free of the Overking's rule and elected one of their own as king. Medven was described as "wily".[1]
The viceroy of Nyrond in Rel Mord was the cousin of Overking Portillan at the time, and described as declaring his independence. This suggests Medven was viceroy at the time.[2]
Prince Sewarndt, son of King Archbold III, was described in 585 CY as the rare rotten apple in the Nyrondese lineage and a throwback to the most decadent of House Rax's heritage.[3] This clearly suggests the lineage of kings runs from Medven down to Archbold, and that Medven was in turn of the (junior) House Rax lineage that ruled Nyrond prior to independence.
