Tyrinon is a paladin known for riding a gryphon into battle, and for agility in combat.
Description
Tyrinon carries a holy avenger bastard sword, which emits a strong radiance of holy light. He is depicted riding upon a tawny gryphon, though it is described in text as a hippogriff.
Personality
Tyrinon is a valiant and brave paladin, serving the temple of his deity unwaveringly and always doing what they ask of him. Whether offering protection, aid, or watching over pilgrims to or from the temple, he has not ever declined to complete an undertaking appointed by the temple.[1]
History
"Tyrinon Shadowslayer is a legendary warrior of the Greyhawk world. His steed and willing companion is Galerender the hippogriff. His magical sword is named Shadowbane. Together they fight evil and chaos wherever they may find it. Tyrinon earned the named "Shadowslayer" in dramatic fashion. He bested an evil shadow dragon in aerial combat. Galerender was far more maneuverable than the lumbering beast, and Tyrinon buried Shadowbane deep in its heart."[2]

Because of his extreme nimbleness (high dexterity), Tyrinon only wears breastplate armor into combat.
Tyrinon is hearty and hale; defined of muscle and is nearly guaranteed to prevail when his body undergoes shock, and is nearly 100% likely to make it through a resurrection. He's assumed to have at least a 17 Constitution, by virtue of his HP. He has a total 105HP. He would normally have 9HD+21HP from his class, and an additional amount of HP from his Con. Either his "rolled" HP were unusually high, or, he has a 17 or 18 Con.

Publication History
Tyrinon originally appeared as one of the NPCs presented in the 1991 Trading Cards line on card number 224. The art was the same as Jeff Easley's cover of James M. Ward's Greyhawk Adventures hardback. The NPC was never previously given a name until the art was used on the trading card. Considering Jim Ward's presence as a designer of the game, it's likely he either intentionally named the character or approved of it.
Tyrinon was later published again in the Spellfire collectible card game (CCG), and he was given further background lore in the Spellfire Reference Guide, Vol. 1.
