Wormspawn are a broad category of monsters created by Kyuss. Wormspawn figured prominently in the Age of Worms (adventure path) in Dungeon magazine.
Physical description
Most wormspawn have a wormlike appearance or are crawling with green worms.
Types of Wormspawn
Kyuss created, or sponsored the creation of, a wide variety of undead creatures. Some examples include:
- Avolakia—Aberrations who dine on undead flesh.[1]
- Broodfiend—An almost headless, grotesque mix of worm, lizard, bat, and ape.[2]
- Earthcancer centipede—Kyuss's attempt to generate undead useful in sieges.[3]
- Eviscerator beetle—One variety of undead vermin known as the Hounds of Kyuss.[4]
- Favored spawn of Kyuss (template)—an advanced form of spawn, retaining the abilities it had in life.[5]
- Mastiff of Kyuss—An example of a favored spawn of Kyuss, plague-spreading hunters and harbingers of the demigod of worms.[6]
- Hound of Kyuss—"A huge, undead scarab beetle the size of a large [dog]."[7]
- Kyuss knight—The former generals of Kyuss' armies.[4]
- Kyuss spawnling—Designed to infiltrate lizardfolk society.[8]
- Mindkiller scorpion—Has a knack for seeking out and focusing its attacks on the most intelligent living foe in the area.[3]
- Overworm—Gargantuan Kyuss worms.[4]
- Scion of Kyuss (template)—intelligent cunning wormspawn who retain their abilities from life.[9]
- Spawn of Kyuss/Sons of Kyuss—The footsoldiers of the Wormgod's legions.[10][11][12]
- Sword of Kyuss—The elite shock troops of the Wormgod's legions.[4]
- Ulgurstasta—A massive, pale yellow maggot.[13]
- Worm Naga—Kyuss's most promising spellcasters fused with worms.[4]
- Worm that Walks—Evil epic-level (20+) arcane spellcasters whose will and personality live on in the worms that devoured the corpse.[14]
- Wormcaller—The lesser priests who helped Kyuss ascend, rewarded with undeath.[4]
- Wormdrake—A fusion of dragon and overworm, combining the worst and most ferocious features of both.[3]
- Wormswarm—Thousands of Kyuss worms banded together.[4][15]
