Zol Darklock was a shadow nobleman, masquerading as a Suel princeling, who had been imprisoned due to the machinations of the Suel arch-mage Xodast, reputed to be one of the men responsible for an artifact that two centuries later aided in the coming of the Invoked Devastation. Zol was captured by Xodast and placed inside an artifact, known as The Darkness That Holds All Shadows, which was eventually recovered from the ruins of the Suel city Suendrako and conveyed to Castle Greyhawk. His millennia-long imprisonment unhinged him, but he eventually returned to the Plane of Shadow.
