Captain General (or captain-general) is a military rank afforded those who command a particular regiment of soldiers or watchmen. Most famously, the Captain-General of the Watch is one of the members of the Directing Oligarchy of the Free City of Greyhawk who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Domain of Greyhawk's military and City Watch.[1][2]

The term is also notably used in the former Great Kingdom and its successor states.[3][4][5]
