The Royal District is a the capital province of Keoland. A small district, it belongs to the capital city of Niole Dra and consists of little more than a day's ride in all directions.[1]
History
The city of Niole Dra was established circa -358 CY to govern the Duchy of Dorlin, founded by the migrating Suloise nobles of House Neheli. In -342 CY, Keoland was formally founded, with Niole Dra as its capital. The city, and the Royal District, were officially declared an independent crown territory.
Geography
Borders
To the east, the Royal District borders the Sheldomar River, where the capital of Niole Dra rests. All land approximately one day's ride from the capital is within the domain of the Royal District.[1]
Notable locations
The Silent Tower is located here, some 25 miles south of the capital near the border of the Earldom of Linth. It is home to an ancient order of sorcerer-seers, and is the most notable castle in this area. A few other minor fortresses are located in the district.
Aside from the capital city itself, the Royal District consists primarily of empty land. Roads from the city cross the district and lead to the various other provinces of Keoland.

Population and demographics
The majority of the district's population lies in the city of Niole Dra, which has a population of 25,000 as of 591 CY.
According to the Keoland Census of 589 CY published by the Living Greyhawk Keoland website, the total population of the Royal District and City of Niole Dra is 30,444, including 21,315 humans, 2,670 gnomes, 2,052 half-elves, 1,912 elves, 1,418 dwarves, 855 halflings, and 222 half-orcs. There also 85,543 poultry and 41,432 meat and dairy.[1]
