Lord Drax is the undead ruler and prince governing the city of Rel Astra.[4]
Description
Drax is described as an orc in the Dungeon Master's Guide (2024), set in 576 CY.[5]
In earlier material, he is of almost direct Oeridian ancestry,[3] and stands 5' 9", with black hair and green eyes.[3]
During the Greyhawk Wars, Drax was transformed into an animus by Overking Ivid the Undying.[1] (This may remain true regardless of whether he is presented as being previously human or orc, as animuses can be both, depending on edition.)[note 1]
Personality
Drax is known for his particularly foul disposition. Even prior to becoming an animus, he tended toward violence and overreaction.[9] Once transformed, he became truly surly.[1] However, Drax is less afflicted by insanity or instability than many of his kind. He is very rational, calculating, and has a dry, bleak sense of humor.[3]
Abilities
As a skilled arcane spellcaster, Drax has near-genius intellect. Int: 17[3]
Possessions
Drax is known to wear powerfully enchanted plate mail +5 when the occasion calls and he has time to don it. He does not carry a shield.
Activities
Relationships
The Fiend-Sage is a frequent companion to Drax.[1] They are seen even walking the streets of Rel Astra together.[1] The Fiend-Sage advises Drax on most all affairs of state as well as many other subjects.
Other than the Fiend-Sage, the Guildmaster of the mages' guild in Rel Astra, Vernnend, is one of the few with whom Drax frequently consults.[10]
History
Drax was once simply the "constable mayor" of Rel Astra.
Drax began ruling the coastal city of Rel Astra in 557 CY.[4]
