The Barony of Axewood is a province of Keoland. It is located in the Axewood forest west of the Sheldomar River.
History
The Axewood forest was once much larger than it is now, reaching almost to the capital city of Niole Dra. Excessive logging soon cut the forest back to its present location, ending only when the Duchy of Ulek joined Keoland and the duke lobbied to forbid further exploitation of the forest. Today, only a small amount of logging, hunting, and foraging are permitted.[1]
The Barony of Axewood was once part of the Duchy of Ulek. However, following the separation of the Duchy of Ulek from Keoland in 461 CY, the Barony of Axewood west of the Sheldomar River remained part of Keoland.

Borders
The Barony of Axewood consists largely of that section of the Axewood forest west of the Sheldomar River, plus a small stretch of additional land the the south. The eastern portion of that forest is contained within the Duchy of Ulek.
Major settlements
The capital of the Barony of Axewood is the town of Linnoden, on the southeast point of the barony upon the Sheldomar River. In 591 CY, its population is 1,840.
People
Population and demographics
Most of the population of the Barony of Axewood are elves.
According to the Keoland Census of 589 CY published by the Living Greyhawk Keoland website, the population of the Barony of Axewood is 46,750, including 20,830 elves, 13,632 humans, 4,335 half-elves, 4,104 gnomes, and 3,849 halflings. There also 44,908 poultry and 11,957 meat and dairy.[1]
Government
The Barony of Axewood is a feudal province of the Kingdom of Keoland. It is ruled by Baron Anladon II, an elderly half-elven lord descended from House Neheli, and related by blood to the Duke of Ulek and Duke Cedrian III of Dorlin. He is one of few half-elves on the Court at Niole Dra, and is popular with the government of the Duchy of Ulek. He is also a good friend and close confidant of King Kimbertos Skotti, and often invites him to his forest retreat in the Axewood.
A local council oversees matters including controlling how much logging, hunting, and foraging are permitted in the wood.[1]

The Barony of Axewood uses the standard currency of Keoland: the platinum griffon (pp), gold lion (gp), electrum eagle (ep), silver hawk (sp), and copper sparrow (cp).
