Spiral is a Fortress in what is now the Kingdom of Ahlissa, that is used to garrison troops and keep a watch on Medegia. While the garrison in maintained by Princess Bersheben, both Prince Harnnden of Nulbish and Prince Dilweg of Torrich help fund the garrison as they have vested interest in keeping fiends from Medegia out of their lands. The castle is built as a double square with internal mirror imaging featuring spiral staircases, many of which lead down into the dungeons.
History
Geography
The castle is built on the banks of the Mikar River on the border between the Kingdom of Ahlissa and the Marchland of Medegia.
Notable individuals
- Rexifer of House Garasteth—lich and esteemed scholar of The Nine Hells and the Abyss. The court wizard of Ivid V, Karoolk used to seek him out for advice, but since the Greyhawk Wars Pricess Bersheben has made sure that he is cut off from any visitors, as he is open and absent-minded, and therefore lose-lipped.[1]
- Princess Baaneth—sister to Princess Bersheben and powerful mage (wiz 11), who specializes in divination and abjuration, and is in charge of detecting and fending off threats. She is cruel and wicked, with little self-control.[1]
