The Centeo Jungle is a tropical rainforest[1] in northern Hepmonaland.

Description

"The entire northern half of Hepmonaland is covered in jungle, and this region is named for the Olman goddess of growing things. While several human nations occupy this area, the land is largely unclaimed except by jungle animals and tribes of humanoids, especially beastfolk and tabaxi."[2]

Ecology

Flora

In addition to the normal trees of the jungle, dangerous or carnivorous plants are known, like the mantrap and thornslinger.

Fauna

The Centeo jungle is known for its abundance of dangerous animals. There are many, many snakes, including constrictors, as well as venomous and even spitting snakes. Other creatures in both normal and giant varieties include bats, jaguars, gorillas, and carnivorous apes. Giant insects are common[3], like beetles, ants, and hairy spiders like tarantulas.

Amongst the more interesting animals of the Centeo are oncos. The onco is an aggressive mammal closely related to the elephant, though it is about the size of a bear. Its tusks never grow to more than one foot in length. Oncos wander the jungle floor eating plant material and scaring other creatures from their territory.[4] They are exclusively found in the Centeo, especially in the area near the Xaro mountains
