General information

Government:The Baron and his naval militia to enforce order

Port Elder is the capital of Fairisle, in the Sea Barons domain. Baron Pamdarn had the city walls strengthened in 585 CY to combat the threats coming from the south, though the port itself remains fairly open with just about any ship being allowed to enter.[1]

Description

The city is known for its laissez-faire attitude and lax enforcement of laws, making the city the "riotous, swashbuckling seaport of the isles."[1] Those of obvious Suloise decent are carefully watched however, due to the threat posed by the Scarlet Brotherhood and the Lordship of the Isles to the south.

Geography

Port Elder is on the west coast of Fairisle.

Government

The city is mostly governed by the Baron of Fairisle directly, with what enforcement there is delegated to the naval militia, known as the Black and Golds because of their uniforms. They are led by Yendrenn Harquil, Admiral of The Squadrons.

People

Notable Individuals

Rhennen- Part of what makes Yendrenn Harquil such a successful captain is the fact that he employs a mage named Rhennen to cast 'airy water' and 'telekinesis'. [1]

Heraldry

Vessels of the city typically bear the heraldry of the Sea Barons (a sea serpent), except for the personal ship of Admiral Yenndren Harquill, which displays his personal symbol—a seawolf.

Rumors and legends

Baron Pamdarn managed to import half a dozen stone giants to work on the walls, and there are quite a few rumors about them, including that they are fiends in giant form, and that the baron has sold his soul to get them. These rumors are not helped by the fact the the giants do not speak in common, and the only person in the city who can speak stone giant is Rhennen.[1]
